The Research Center for Strategic Studies consists of the Department of Law and Sociology and Department of Administration, Economics and Political Science. Social science researchers from diverse fields combine their skills and expertise to produce original work and serve the local communities needs. The aim of this research center is to combine theoretical and practical expertise of leading academics and researchers to work on vital research topics and current issues affecting local communities in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Department of Law and Sociology
The Department of Law and Sociology is an interdisciplinary research center that combines the disciplines of Anthropology, Islamic Studies of Economics, Kurdish Literature and Literary criticism, General and Specified Law, Media Studies, Classical and Modern Philosophy, and Statistics. In particular, our team of expert researchers conduct ethnographic research on oral traditions of farming communities and British colonial archives and cultural Heritage of the Kurdistan Region’s local communities; Kurdish literary studies from nineteenth and twentieth century, general and specific law studies on international genocide laws and private laws of migrant communities; Media studies and European classical and modern philosophy from Kant to Ahmedi Khani; as well as Islamic economic studies on Islamic and non-Islamic banks and vital statistical analysis.
