About Department
The Department of Agricultural Sciences conducts research in agriculture, water quality, and food science. Researchers in Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine are studying new agricultural techniques and changes in land use driven by climate change. Meanwhile, food science and safety experts investigate food constituents and their effects on human health. Their work also helps prevent food spoilage, directly benefiting public health. Ultimately, rigorous food quality control programs ensure that unsafe and unhealthy products stay off the market and off our uses.
Within the Agricultural Research Department, our researchers organize annual training courses to promote sustainable agriculture, self-sufficient agriculture. We also strive to raise awareness about using natural alternatives to chemical pesticides in farming.
Mission
The Department of Agricultural Sciences is dedicated to sustainable, eco-friendly farming and reviving chemical- and pesticide-free agricultural practices. Furthermore, it is committed to furthering scientific knowledge and driving technological innovation across diverse disciplines, including environmental science and food technology. Our mission is to tackle complex agricultural research and technological challenges. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories, we deliver high-calibre analytical services to academic institutions, researchers, and the local community - fostering collaboration and driving progress both within the Kurdistan Region and globally.
