About Department

The Department of Geology conducts fundamental and applied research in Earth sciences, structural geology, hydrogeology, and natural resources exploration. Researchers in sedimentology, petroleum geology, and geophysics evaluate subterranean geological formations, structural faults, and tectonic evolution. Meanwhile, hydrogeology and engineering geology experts investigate groundwater reserves, aquifer quality, and geotechnical hazards related to infrastructure development. Their work provides essential geographical and resource maps, directly benefiting urban development and risk management. Ultimately, systematic geological field surveys and hazard mitigation programs ensure that human safety, natural resource exploitation, and infrastructure projects remain secure and sustainable.

Within the Department of Geology, our researchers organize annual specialized field courses and technical workshops in geological mapping, GIS applications, and sustainable groundwater management. We also strive to raise awareness about natural hazard mitigation—such as earthquakes, landslides, and erosion—among industrial partners and regional authorities.
