A three-day training on establishing and managing natural gardens was held at the Sulaymaniyah Cultural Factory from April 15–17, 2026. Organized by the Kurdistan Institution and the Cultural Factory Garden, in partnership with the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung – Beirut Office, the program combined theory with practice.
Participants were introduced to the core principles of sustainable agriculture (permaculture) and urban farming, including soil composition, natural pest control, and efficient irrigation methods. The practical sessions focused on designing garden layouts, preparing planting beds, applying proper plant spacing, and practicing companion planting. The training concluded with the installation of a drip irrigation system and making compost equipping participants with both the knowledge and skills to implement sustainable gardening in urban environments.
